Knowing Christ is a matter of salvation (see John 14:5-7). To know Him is no light matter. From Jesus perspective it is a deep and intimate relationship. He says in John 14:20 “In that day” referring to the day of Pentecost when the Spirit comes, “you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.” In other words, knowing Christ is having a deep relationship with the Son and with the Father. It goes back to John 14:7 which says, “If you had known Me you would have known my Father also.” So the question is this, “Do you know Him?” It is the single most important question you will ever be asked in your life. It is the question of the ages. It is the question that reveals the eternal well-being of your soul. If you don’t know Him you will be separated from Him (Matt. 7:23) which the Apostle Paul describes as death (Rom. 6:23) or what Jesus describes as outer darkness where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matt. 8:12; 22:13; 25:30).
Do you know Christ? If not, He says “Come to me.” (Matt. 11:28) You must not come to yourself, to others, to things, but to Christ. Apart from Christ it will be endless and futile labor because it will not get you into heaven. He says “Come to me all who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest.” (Matt. 11:28) The way to heaven ends with Christ because the work He did on the cross is a finished work (John 19:30). Paul says “Christ is the end of the Law for righteousness to everyone who believes.” (Rom. 10:4) If you do not know Christ, you must come to Him only for your salvation. Then and only then can you find “rest for your souls.” (Matt. 11:29) Heed these words from the Word of God, “There is salvation in no one else; for there is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved.” (Acts 4:12)
